Judge Robert Morris

Judge Morris was appointed by three different Florida Governors to serve as a judge in as many courts.  Immediately prior to his current assignment on the Second District Court Judge Morrisof Appeal, he served on the Circuit Court for the Sixth Judicial Circuit (Pinellas/Pasco) and on the Pinellas County Court before that.

In addition to traditional judicial duties, he currently serves on the Supreme Court Judicial Management Council, the Judicial Qualifications Commission and as editor-in-chief for Judicature, a law review published by Duke Law School.  He has also served on the Trial Court Budget Commission and, for many years, on the Supreme Court Committee on Children and Families in Court.  While on the trial court, he was twice elected chief judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit.

Prior to becoming a judge, he was engaged in the practice of law for seventeen years.  His experience as a lawyer includes being a prosecutor, a partner and state-wide management committee member in a national law firm, and the principal of his own law firm.  His practice focused on commercial litigation as well as business and real estate law. He also served on the boards of directors of a bank and a hospital.  Martindale-Hubbell rated him AV.

Judge Morris holds a B.S. from the University of Florida and a J.D. from DePaul University.  He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, the third child in a family which would ultimately include eight children. He was raised in both Florida and the Bahamas, attending St. Andrews, the International School of the Bahamas, and then Tarpon Springs High School from which he graduated. Shortly after graduation from college, he married his high school classmate and together they have raised three children.
