Judge Charles A. Davis, Jr.

Appellate Judge

Judge Davis received his B.A. degree with high honors from Trevecca Nazarene College in 1970 and his M.A. degree fromPicture of Judge Charles A. Davis, Jr. courtesy of Tony's Studio - www.mytonyonline.com the University of Cincinnati in 1971. From 1971 through 1973 he taught in the public schools of Polk County. He received his J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Florida in 1975.

Upon completing law school, he began his practice in Winter Haven. In 1976 he was elected to the Winter Haven City Commission and was elected Mayor in 1978. In 1980 he closed his private practice and took a position as an assistant public defender for the Tenth Judicial Circuit for Polk County. Judge Davis was elected judge of the county court of Polk County in 1982 and then was elected circuit judge for the Tenth Circuit in 1984. As a circuit judge, he sat in all divisions of the court and served as chief judge from 1995 Governor Jeb Bush appointed him to the Second District Court of Appeal in 1999.

In addition to his judicial duties, Judge Davis is active in community and church activities. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce, the Citrus Center Boys Club, and Polk County Youth for Christ. He is the past president of the Winter Haven Optimist Club and the Auburndale, Lake Alfred, and Winter Haven Bar Association. He has served on the Board of Trustees for Trevecca Nazarene University since 1980 and as chairman of that board. Judge Davis is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Central Florida District of the Church of the Nazarene and the chairman of the denomination's governing board.

Judge Davis was born in Winter Haven, Florida, in 1948.
